Mustangs forward Pearce Gourley is one of seven 20 year olds on the roster and got his first taste of exhibition action Saturday in the Battlefords.
"I felt alright actually. I was a little rusty, haven't played in a while but it's always good to get a feel for the puck."
The Saskatoon native says he enjoys the pre-season.
"You get a lot more jump in you when you play a few pre-season games and then get into regular season."
After a 3 year career that saw stops in Nipawin and Kindersley, the coaching staff is relying on the man they call "Gramps" to provide leadership on and off the ice.
Gourley says he can't wait to get things going.
"There is a lot of excitement here. We've got a good team here; we're bringing a lot of guys back and coming off a losing season it's always nice to get another one going."
