Joins Bo Lenard down south

The Louisiana Ice Gators of the SPHL (Southern Professional Hockey League) have added another Mustang Alumni to their roster.

The Gators have signed forward Sterling Bear to a try out contract.

Bear joins fellow SJHL’ers Bo Lenard (Melfort), Marc Andre Carre (La Ronge), Cody Zubko (Yorkton) and Clark and Kirk Byczynski (Yorkton) on their 24 man roster.

Sterling Bear was well traveled in his junior career but saw two seasons under the SJHL spotlight.

The Martensville, SK native put up 157 penalty minutes in his rookie season in La Ronge in 07/08 before moving throughout the MJHL, MHL and BCHL.

Bear finished his junior career with the Mustangs in 10/11 and put up 21 points in 27 games.

The signing of Bear makes it 8 SJHL Alumni and plying their trade in the Southern Professional Hockey League, three of which are former Mustangs.
