Drop 4-3 decision to Yorkton

Yorkton Terriers 4 Melfort Mustangs 3

The Melfort Mustangs two game win streak was snapped Thursday night at the Palace.

The Mustangs scored 6 seconds into the game on Landon Belchamber's 2nd of the season but only managed four more shots in the remaining 19:54 seconds of the period.

Yorkton jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one as Tayler Thompson, Tyler Geibel and Derek Falloon found the back of the net.

The Mustangs started to find their stride in the 2nd period as Regan Wilton tipped home his 2nd of the season 8 minutes into the frame.

Four minutes later Brandon Sloan streak down the right win and scored an absolute beauty to tie the game at three.

In the third the Terriers only managed 7 shots but made at least one count as Tyler Geibel picked up his 2nd of the night just six minutes into the final frame.

The Mustangs came on strong in the final ten and had plenty of chances but rookie goalie Austin Buzzell made some spectacular saves to finish the night with 22.

With the extra attacker on, Brennen Bosovich got a one timer off in the slot but ripped it high and wide.

The comeback would fall to the wayside.

Jesse Wilkins was solid once again making 24 saves in the losing effort.

The Mustangs will travel to North Battleford tonight (Friday) to take on the Stars.

The CK750 pre-game show begins at 7:15.
