The La Ronge Ice Wolves got a four game monkey off their back and earned a 3-2 overtime win over the Mustangs Tuesday night.

Dating back to the final regular season game of 2011/2012 the Ice Wolves were winless against the Mustangs in four games, all decided by one goal.

Brandon Formosa and Pavlo Zerebecky would exchange goals in the first forty minutes before the Ice Wolves jumped ahead for the 2nd time in the night off the stick of Braden Oleksyn.

Matt Saunderson picked a great time to score his first goal of the season as his tally at the 16:00 mark would send the game to overtime.

The Mustangs had some powerplay time to start the extra fram but could not convert and it was Oleksyn netting the game winner two minutes into OT to spoil a great outing from Patrick Johnson.

Johnson, who was making his 4th straight start kicked aside 45 shots in the loss.

The Mustangs do however earn a single point on the night to remain ahead of La Ronge in the standings but with the Battlefords win over Flin Flon the Mustangs find themselves 6 points back of the Stars heading into a weekend home stand.

The Estevan Bruins are at the Palace Friday before former goalie Tyrell King and the Kindersley Klippers roll into town on Saturday.
