Mustangs Still Tied With LaRonge

The Melfort Mustangs remain tied for the last playoff spot in the SJHL North Division after a 6-4 loss to the visiting Nipawin Hawks on Friday, February 15. The game was Melfort’s second last home game of the regular season.
The Hawks led 3-1 after one period and 5-3 after two periods.
Logan Sceviour scored his tenth goal since Christmas in the first period for Melfort. Anthony Pickering, Brandon Formosa and Jarrett Zentner had the other Mustangs’ goals.
Tad Kozun, Carter Coben, Mitch Doell, Eric Bollefor, Michael Lambert and Dexter Bricker responded for the Hawks.
The Mustangs’ Jesse Wilkins made 30 save; Davis Jones made 25 saves for the Hawks.
Both the Mustangs and La Ronge Ice Wolves have 41 points as they try to clinch the fifth and final playoff spot in the North. The Ice Wolves have two games left and Melfort has four. The Mustangs have a record of 18-27-3-2, while the Ice Wolves have a record of 19-30-0-3.
The Mustangs are in Flin Flon to face the Bombers tonight.
