Claw back to win in shootout

Mitch Maraschiello made 30 stops in regulation and another 6 in the shootout to earn the win in a wild one in Estevan Tuesday night.

The Buffalo, NY native made a highlight reel save with less than 5 seconds on the clock in overtime to send the game to penalty kicks and then shut the door in what turned into a marathon shootout.

The game didn’t start well for the Mustangs who fell behind 1-0 just 1:20 seconds in when Darcy DeRoose grabbed a bouncing puck and walked in alone and made no mistake.

The Bruins would add some insurance when former PA Raider Austin Daae roofed home his 2nd of the season on a broken play in front of the Mustang net.

Anthony Pickering got the Mustangs on the board early in the third on a great play out of the corner the was created by Travis Mayan and Lane Harbor.

Brandon Sloan then potted his 2nd of the year to tie the game with just 3 minutes left on the clock.

The two teams went toe to toe in overtime but it took 8 rounds of a shootout before Adam Fauchoux beat Bruins netminder Brett Lewchuk to end the game and propel the Mustangs to a 2-1 record on the season.

The Mustangs head to Wilcox tonight (Wednesday) in a game you can hear on Ck750 starting with the pre-game show at 7:45.
