The Melfort Mustangs have completed a trade with the Battlefords North Stars, which sends Melfort native, 1996-born forward, Rylan Freed to his hometown.

Freed started the 2015-16 season with the Drumheller Dragons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He had two assists in eight games with the Dragons before being traded to the North Stars at the end of October. In 10 games with the North Stars, Freed recorded one goal and five assists.

Freed was an affiliate player with the Mustangs during the 2013-14 season and after playing the 2014-15 season with the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, he has come full circle and is set to return home for his 19-year-old season.
