Melfort Mustangs goaltender Richard Palmer has committed to a scholarship from NCAA Division 1 Mercyhurst. It seems like it was just a matter of time before the Mustangs Number 1 backstop to sign a scholarship for next season after two tremendous years between the pipes for the Mustangs. His numbers are off the charts as a starter in the SJHL. 2014-15 saw Palmer post 29 wins in 42 games with a .932 save percentage and a league leading 1.78 GAA. 2015 playoffs were no different with 12 wins in 14 games and .932 save percentage and 1.78 GAA.

Palmer picked up where he left off this season with yet another league leading 29 win season before suffering a freak injury in warmups before his first playoff game. Palmer returned with a vengeance under difficult circumstances in Game 4 of the finals. Palmer won all 3 games he started with off the charts numbers along the way at a .968 save percentage and 1.25 GAA.

The well rested Palmer will no doubt be a key part to the Melfort Mustangs run at an RBC Cup Championship this year. Congratulations Richard Palmer!
