The Melfort Mustangs are back on the road this weekend for games 10 and 11 away from the Northern Lights Palace in just their 14th and 15th games of the regular season. Playing away from home ice seems to be the early theme for the Stangs but a 10-1-1-1 record proves they've felt pretty comfortable away from home cooking. Tonight they travel to the Battlefords for the first meeting of the season between the Mustangs and Stars. Last year the Stars got the better of the Mustangs, like they did with the rest of the SJHL as they rolled to their first Canalta Cup Championship since it was called the Membercare Cup in 2000. Tonight's matchup should be a good one!

Leading Scorers:

Melfort(10-1-1-1)

Loch Morrison 8G, 8A- 16P

Adam Hergott 3G-, 7A- 10P

Justin Ball 4G, 5A- 9P

Carson Albrecht 4G, 5A- 9P

Kayle Tosh 2G, 7A- 9P

Battlefords(6-0-1-0)

Layne Young 6G, 12A- 18P

Dakota Huebner 4G, 7A- 11P

MacGregor Sinclair 5G, 5A- 10P

Keith Anderson 3G, 4A- 7P

Levi Kleiboer 3G, 3A- 6P

The Mustangs head into the contest having dropped their most recent game in a shootout to Humboldt. Despite the loss the Mustangs have 5 points in their last 3 games.

For the Battleford Stars the only thing you can hold against them is they haven't played very many games this season. They've won 6 of 7 games and are still looking up at Humboldt, Kindersley and Notre Dame in the division, with 5 games in hand.

Tonight's game starts a mini two game road trip for the Mustangs. Following tonight's game the team heads to Kindersley for the first meeting of the season with the Klippers. Game time this weekend is 7:30pm for both games. They can be heard on CK750.
