Shepherd Commits to Mustangs for 2023/2024

The Melfort Mustangs are excited to announce that 2005-born forward Austin Shepherd has committed to the club for the 2023/2024 season.

Shepherd, out of Kerrobert, Sask., is listed at 5’8”, 155lbs and is currently playing with the Battleford Stars U18 AAA club. In 31 games this year, Shepherd has 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points. He’s second on the team in points, and is second on the team in goals.

“Austin brings a work ethic that is off the charts,” said Mustangs Head Coach and General Manager Trevor Blevins. “His energy and compete level is a great fit for how we want to play.”

Shepherd has already dawned the Mustangs jersey a pair of times as an affiliate player.

Prior to his time with the Stars, Shepherd played two seasons of U18 AA with the West Central Wheat Kings. In 46 career games, he scored 22 goals and added 35 assists.
