Alumni Habscheid and Odnokon win WHL with Raiders

Alumni of the Melfort Mustangs are celebrating some hardware this week! Former Mustang Head Coach’s Marc Habscheid and Mark Odnokon are WHL Champions as the Prince Albert Raiders beat the Vancouver Giants in 7 games on Monday Night.

Habschied, the current Raider Head Coach was the bench boss in Melfort during the 1996-97 season. He coached the Mustangs to a 38-21-5 record that season. His Mustang team finished 2nd in the SJHL North and lost out in the SJHL Quarter-Finals that season.

Odnokon, who is a current Raider Skills Coach, coached the Melfort Mustangs from 1988 to 1990. He was our first head coach and led the Mustangs to 30 wins over the first two seasons in the SJHL.

The Mustang organization would like to recognize and congratulate two alumni members on winning the Western Hockey League Championship with the Prince Albert Raiders. Good Luck in the Memorial Cup in Halifax which starts tomorrow!
