Ashe named SJHL’s Rookie of the Year

The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce that 2006-born forward Riley Ashe has been named the SJHL’s Rookie of the Year.

Through 54 games this season, Ashe has scored eight goals and notched 30 assists as one of just a handful of 16-year-olds in the SJHL. His 30 assists were first in the SJHL among rookies, while his 38 points are good for fifth. He also notched three game-winning-goals which are tied for second among those first-year players. His eight powerplay assists are tied for second as well.

Ashe is currently committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha along with fellow Rookie of the Year nominee Carsten Kayter.

The Warman, Sask. product is also the first Melfort Mustang to ever win the award, dating back 35 years to the Mustangs first season in 1988/1989.
