After almost a full week off from game action the Melfort Mustangs are eager to get back at it tonight as they travel to Yorkton to meet the Terriers for their 3rd of 4 meetings this season. Game time is 7:30pm from Yorkton.
After winning the first meeting of the season in convincing fashion at the SJHL Showcase on Sept 27th, the Mustangs fell in a tough game to the Terriers on Nov 22nd, splitting the season series 1-1. Tonight is the final time the Mustangs will travel to Yorkton as the 4th and final regular season meeting is in Melfort on February 7th.
Melfort(20-5-4-1) has been one of the hottest teams in the SJHL in recent weeks. Over their last 12 games the Mustangs have points in 11 putting up a 9-1-2-0 record in that stretch. Most recently a 4-1 victory over La Ronge on Dec 6th.
The Yorkton Terriers(6-22-2-0) are at the opposite end of the SJHL Standings. But that doesn’t mean much as the Terriers played arguably one of their best games of the season against Melfort. The Terriers are 3-7-0-0 in their last 10 games and have pulled even with the La Ronge Ice Wolves for 11th place, 8 points back of Melville for the final playoff spot.
