A weekend sweep for the Melfort Mustangs has the club still at the top of the mountain in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Following back to back wins, 3-2 over Kindersley, and 4-1 over La Ronge the Mustangs moved to 16-4-3-1 on the season. First place in the SJHL.

Friday night the Mustangs jumped out to the lead at 7:52 of the first period. Zach Anderson would score his 2nd of the season, assists to Carson Albrecht and Justin Ball. The Klippers would answer back a few minutes later to make it a 1-1 hockey game after 20 minutes.
In the second, captain Andrew Thompson would put the home side back on top with his 7th of the season, Boedy Donald and Justin Ball would add the helpers. Once again the Klippers would strike shortly after evening the score again 2-2. But at 19:11 of the second period Loch Morrison would put the game away for good scoring his 9th of the season on the PP, Justin Ball would pick up his 3rd assist of the game on the goal, Kayle Tosh would get the other.
In the third period, Melfort Mustangs netminder Evan Plotnik would stop all 13 shots he faced to backstop the team to their 15th win of the season. Moving the Mustangs to 15-4-3-1.
La Ronge-1 @ Melfort-4, Nov 18 2017
The following night the La Ronge Ice Wolves would make their way to the Northern Lights Palace and the trend would continue for the Mustangs. They have not lost to the Ice Wolves yet this season and in their third meeting the Mustangs would come away with a 4-1 victory. Goalie Hunter Arps made 20 saves on 21 shots for the win, the 16th for the Mustangs on the year. The Mustangs got first period goals from Tristen Elder(2) and Rock Ruschkowski(3), a second period goal from Loch Morrison(10) and a third period goal from Tyson Meyers(3).
For the Mustangs, they head out on the road for one game to meet the Yorkton Terriers on Wednesday. Game time is 7:30pm from Yorkton and CK750 will have the play by play. Next home game for Melfort is Saturday vs the Estevan Bruins.
