The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce another university commitment!
Mustang Forward Ben Chase has committed to Wentworth Institute of Technology for the upcoming 2021-22 season!
Chase, came to Melfort for the beginning of the 2019-20 season. He played in 49 regular season and four playoff games, tallying four goals and ten assists. During the 2020-21 season he added an assist in four games.
“We are extremely proud of Ben and his commitment to Wentworth. He exemplified a commitment to our program on and off the ice and his play was outstanding over the past two seasons.” Melfort Mustangs Head Coach and GM Trevor Blevins said. “He also spent many hours volunteering his time with minor hockey and the elementary schools. This commitment is very deserving for a quality individual.”
Chase was nominated for the SJHL’s RBC Community Ambassador Award this season. Chosen annually, the SJHL’s RBC Community Ambassador Award goes to a player who shows a high standard of citizenship and community involvement/volunteerism; and outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the ice. Chase is currently a league finalist for the award which should be named in the coming weeks.
Prior to his time with the Mustangs, the 20-year-old forward played his U18 AAA and High School hockey in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Wentworth Institute of Technology Men’s Hockey Program is an NCAA Division 3 program that plays in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. They play out of Boston Massachusetts.
The Mustangs would like to thank Ben for his time in Melfort and wish him all the best with Wentworth!
