Catz n’ Jammers 3 Stars of the Month – November

We’re almost at the halfway point of the SJHL season and the Mustangs are right in the thick of things through the month of November. In eight games in the month, the Mustangs tallied a 3-1-1-3 record, which has the team currently in fifth place in the SJHL with a 13-7-1-4 record and 31 points.

There were a number of players that were key contributors for the Mustangs in November. Here are the Catz n’ Jammers 3 Stars of the Month.

1st Star: James Venne: (6gp, 2-0-0-3, 1.75 GAA, .927 sv%, 1 shutout)

Since being acquired in mid-October, 2004-born netminder James Venne has done nothing but stop pucks for the Mustangs. Venne earned his first career SJHL shutout on Nov. 13, stopping 17 shots against the Weyburn Red Wings. He’s won two games in the month, and has not lost in regulation. He tallied a 1.75 goals against average in November, to go along with a .927 save percentage.

Overall, Venne has a 3-0-0-3 record on the season, a 1.56 goals against average, and a .933 save percentage to go along with his one shutout through eight appearances for Melfort.

2nd Star: Marco Lopez: (8gp, 4G, 2A, 6Pts)

Marco Lopez has really taken off in the month of November, especially as of late. Through eight games in the month, the 2001-born forward scored four goals, and added two assists. His four goals led the team in November. His best night was a two goal performance in Melfort’s 3-2 shootout win against Yorkton on Nov. 20.

Through 23 games this season, Lopez has scored nine goals and added eight assists for 17 points. Good for a tie for third on the team in scoring.

3rd Star: Dawson Leroux: (8gp, 1G, 4A, 5Pts)

Dawson Leroux was one of the Mustangs best playmakers through the month of November. On top of his four assists in eight games, he also scored on Saturday, Nov. 27 against Estevan. The 2002-born forward also had a two assist night on Nov. 3 against Flin Flon.

Through, 25 games, Leroux has five goals and eight assists for 13 points this season.
