Catz N Jammers December 3 Stars

The Melfort Mustangs wrapped up the 2019 portion of their season with a home and home against Nipawin before the Holiday Break. As we get set for another Melfort-Nipawin home and home this weekend we can take a look back at December and hand out some monthly awards! Thanks to Catz N Jammers in Melfort we bring you the Mustangs 3 Stars of the Month for December 2019!

Kenzie Arnold

Kenzie Arnold had another solid month on the ice for the Melfort Mustangs. Kenzie has been leading or near the team lead in scoring this year and followed it up in December. In 8 games during December Kenzie scored 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points. His 7 points led all Mustangs in the month while his 4 goals were second to only Tyson Meyers(5). In 34 games this season Arnold has 16 goals and 30 points. His 16 goals lead the team while his 30 points trail only Kyle Bosch(31).

Kyle Bosch

Speaking of Kyle Bosch he is also a Mustang star for the month of December. For the first time this season we recognize Kyle Bosch for a solid month on the ice. In 8 games, Bosch had 6 assists which led the team in helpers. Bosch has been a great addition to the Mustang powerplay this season, however it’ worth noting only 1 of his 6 December assists came on the man advantage, which shows how great of an asset he’s been at even strength. Since being acquired by the Mustangs at the end of November, Kyle is still looking for his first goal but has 7 assists in just 10 games.

Tanner Martin

Our final star of the month is Mustang goaltender Tanner Martin! Martin started the month on fire posting back to back wins against Melville and Humboldt. He also beat the La Ronge ice Wolves later in the month to post a 3-2 record in 5 games, with 1 shutout, a .908 save percentage and a 2.39 goals against average in December. Martin saw action in the first 3 games of December as Shawn Parkinson was out sick. Martin took advantage, as he now has a 7-4-1 record on the season. The first year rookie goaltender is coming off back to back seasons with the Tisdale Trojans where he was named the SMHL Top Goaltender in 2018-19!

The Mustangs begin the 2020 portion of their schedule with a home and home date with Nipawin on January 3rd and 4th. In total, the Mustangs will play 5 home games and 5 road games in January.
