The Melfort Mustangs are excited to announce that 2005-born defenceman Riley Cormier has committed to the Mustangs for the 2023/2024 season!
Cormier (5’11”/179lbs), played this past season with the Columbia Valley Rockies of the KIJHL. In 39 games, the Vernon, B.C. product tallied two goals and added 15 assists for 17 points. Cormier also added an assist in six playoff games.
“We are very excited to add Riley to our organization,” said Mustangs Director of Player Personnel Rick Oakes. “He is coming off a very good season with Columbia Valley. Riley is a big right shot defenceman that skates very well and possesses strong hockey sense, ability, and character. He is very strong in the defensive zone and also has the ability to jump up into the play and create offensive opportunities.”
During the 2021/2022 season, Cormier played for the Thompson Blazers of the BC U18 AAA ranks. He tallied 13 points in 36 games that season with the Blazers.
