The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce that Danton Cox has committed to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) for the upcoming ACAC season.
Cox wraps up a strong three-year run with the Mustangs, playing an important role in back-to-back championship teams. He was a player who could be relied on in any situation, bringing a team-first approach every time he stepped on the ice.
Whether he was playing forward or defence, Cox brought reliability, work ethic, and a strong presence to the lineup every night. His ability to adapt and contribute in multiple positions made him an invaluable piece of the Mustangs’ success.
Head Coach Trevor Blevins spoke about Cox’s impact:
“Danton was the definition of a team-first player. He did everything for his teammates and never hesitated to step into any role we needed. His ability to play both forward and defence gave us incredible flexibility, and he embraced that challenge every day. Players like Danton are a huge part of championship teams.”
Beyond his on-ice contributions, Cox was a respected presence in the dressing room and a positive role model within the community. His commitment to the team and willingness to put others first helped set the standard for the Mustangs culture.
The organization would like to thank Danton for his dedication and contributions over the past three seasons and wish him continued success at NAIT.
