The Melfort Mustangs are excited to announce that 2005-born forward Luc Fortier has committed to the Mustangs for the 2023/2024 season.
Fortier, out of Zenon Park, Sask., has been playing with the Yorkton Maulers U18 AAA club this season. In 31 games to this point, Fortier has scored eight goals and added seven assists for 15 points, currently fifth on the team in point, and tied for third in goals.
“Luc plays a high energy game with lots of pace,” said Mustangs Head Coach and General Manager Trevor Blevins. “His performance while playing for us as an AP this season shows that he can play in the SJHL at a high level and we’re excited to welcome him to our team next season.”
Fortier has also already made his mark in the SJHL, as back on Dec. 14 he joined the Mustangs as an affiliate for their game against Melville at the Northern Lights Palace. Fortier would notch three points in that game, including his first career SJHL goal.
Prior to his time in U18 AAA in Saskatchewan, Fortier spent two seasons with the North East U18 AA program. In 39 games across the regular season and playoffs, Fortier scored 22 goals and added 20 assists for 42 points.
Fortier joins current Maulers teammate Edward Knittig as Melfort’s commits for the 2023/2024 season.
