The Melfort Mustangs will head on the road tonight looking to create a win streak. Thanks to a shootout win in La Ronge on Tuesday the Mustangs will look to string together wins this weekend.
Tonight the Mustangs head to Weyburn to meet the Red Wings, before heading further South tomorrow for a visit with the Bruins, in Estevan. Game time both nights is 7:30pm. Mat Barrett will have the call on 750 Beach Radio.
Trevor Blevins now sits alone at the top of the Melfort Mustangs coaching ranks. Thanks to a 4-3 shootout win in La Ronge on Tuesday, Blevins now has 212 regular season wins as Head Coach of the Melfort Mustangs, the most in team history. The win in La Ronge pushes Blevins past Darrell Mann for top spot. To go with 212 regular season wins, Blevins has 42 wins in the post season. It’s an exciting time for Estevan Bruins fans. The Bruins along with Hockey Canada announced yesterday that the Bruins, and City of Estevan will host the 2022 Centennial Cup presented by Tim Hortons. Formerly known as the RBC Cup, the Centennial Cup is the Junior A National Championship that pits 4 regional winners from across Canada, along with the host Bruins, against each other in a single tournament for the CJHL National Championship! Pretty cool for Estevan and the SJHL.
The Mustangs will look to chase down the Flin Flon Bombers and Battlefords North Stars for the top 2 spots in the league standings. Flin Flon and Battleford go head to head tonight and tomorrow so a few Mustangs wins and they will make up ground guaranteed!
