Melfort Finds Their Scoring; Picks Up a Big Win

AFTER STRUGGLING TO FIND THE NET IN RECENT GAMES, THE MUSTANGS SEEM TO BE BACK IN FORM AFTER THEIR GAME IN KINDERSLEY.

After being held of the scoreboard Friday night against the league leading Battleford Stars, the Melfort Mustangs managed to break their 8 game losing skid Saturday when they finished their weekend in Kindersley. The most recent notch in the win column comes courtesy of a 6-2 win from a Mustang team that had been having some trouble finding the back of the net as of late. Miles Warkentine led the scoring with two goals and an assist, with Reed Gunville (1g-1a) , Dakota Boutin, Matthew Hermary and Carson Albrecht rounding out the scoring. Rock Ruschkowski (2a), Sam Houston, Andrew Thompson, Kalem Zary, and Tanner Zentner also added to their point totals with assists in the contest. Evan Plotnik anchored the win, stopping 26 of 28 shots on the night.

This win moves Melfort to 20-25-2-4 on the season for a total of 46 points. Currently sitting in the 10th and final play-off position, Melfort is 10 points up of the eleventh placed Melville Millionaires, and one point back of the ninth place Kindersley Klippers. The Mustangs are now inactive for most of the upcoming week with their next game being played on Friday, February 17th at home against the Stars.
