The Melfort Mustangs were once again honored the week with weekly awards in both the SJHL and CJHL.
Parkinson again!
Shawn Parkinson has been named the SJHL Goalie of the Week Runner Up. In 2 games this week Parkinson posted 2 wins and a 1.50 GAA with a 0.937 Save Percentage. Parkinson was great as he back stopped the Mustangs to 6-2 and 5-1 wins over Yorkton and Melville, respectively. On the season Parkinson is 6-0 with a 1.06 GAA and a .958 Save Percentage. He’s just 200 minutes shy of being a qualified SJHL goaltender this season. Melfort has now won 9 straight games and will look to make it 10 tomorrow night vs the Weyburn Red Wings.
Mustangs move up to #17 Nationally
The Melfort Mustangs come in as number 17 on the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s weekly top 20 rankings. Following a 2-0 record, the Melfort boys move up from #19 to #17 in a span of a week. Riding a 9 game win streak the Mustangs now have the highest win percentage in the SJHL, and sit just 2 points back of Humboldt for top spot in the SJHL with 3 games in hand.
