Mustangs acquire Evans from Ice Wolves for Curtis

The Melfort Mustangs have acquired 2003-born forward Tye Evans and a Player Development Fee (PDF) from the La Ronge Ice Wolves in exchange for 2002-born forward Trenton Curtis.

“Tye is a dynamic player that competes hard in all three zones,” said Mustangs Head Coach and General Manager Trevor Blevins. “He will add another element of offence to our forward group.”

Evans re-joins the Mustangs after beginning the 2021/2022 season in Melfort. He scored two goals and added an assists in 13 games for the Mustangs before being traded to La Ronge in November. After arriving in La Ronge, Evans had nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points in 33 games the rest of the season. He added three more assists in six playoff games as well. In five games to start this season, Evans has four assists.

Curtis joined the Mustangs prior to the 2021/2022 season after playing the 2020/2021 season with Olds in the AJHL. Last season, Curtis had 12 goals and 29 assists for 41 points in 46 games for the Mustangs, and also played in two playoff games last season. To begin the 2022/2023 season, Curtis has been held pointless in four games.

The Mustangs would like to welcome Tye back to Melfort, and would also like to thank Trenton for his time as a Mustangs and wish him all the best.
