Mustangs add Burns-Marion from Calgary Canucks

The Melfort Mustangs have made a trade today, acquiring 2000-born forward Leighton Burns-Marion from the Calgary Canucks, in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

Burns-Marion, from Regina, Saskatchewan, played the last two seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with Calgary. In 92 career AJHL games, he scored eight goals and five assists for 13 points. In three playoff games he also added a goal and an assist.

“we’re excited to add Leighton to our team.” Melfort Mustangs Head Coach and General Manager Trevor Blevins said. “He’s a big, strong forward, who fits our style of play.”

Prior to Calgary, Burns-Marion played with the Regina Pat Canadians of the Saskatchewan U18 league. He also played two seasons with the Notre Dame Argos U18.

The Mustangs would like to welcome Leighton and his family to Melfort as we look forward to the 2020-21 hockey season.
