Mustangs add Deklan Whillans from Camrose

The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce the acquisition of Deklan Whillans today.

The Mustangs have acquired Whillans from the Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

A 20-year old forward from Grand Prairie, Alberta, Whillans has played two full seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He spent time with the Camrose Kodiaks, Sherwood Park Crusaders and Spruce Grove Saints. In 84 career AJHL games, he scored 7 goals and added 4 assists for 11 points. He also added an assist in 11 playoff games.

“Deklan is a big, strong power forward who will help our group,” Melfort Mustangs Head Coach and GM Trevor Blevins said. “He is very well respected by previous coaches and teammates and we’re proud to have him.”

Whillans will join the Mustangs for fall camp beginning August 30th. Melfort hosts the Nipawin Hawks on Monday Sept 2nd for the first preseason game of the season.
