Mustangs and Bombers collide for third straight time

Do you think the Melfort Mustangs and Flin Flon Bombers are sick of each other? Well tonight is the 3rd straight meeting and 7th overall on the season. Both teams got some well needed days off this week after going toe to toe last weekend splitting a pair of games in each others rinks. Tonight the meeting shifts back to Melfort as the Mustangs are looking to stay hot as we roll towards the playoffs.

For the Flin Flon Bombers, they’re looking at locking down a better playoff spot after now clinching a spot in the first round survivior series. The Bombers currently sit 9th and are looking at a date with the Kindersley Klippers in the first round. They could catch the Klippers which would set them up with home ice advantage in the quick best of 3 series.

For the Mustangs they continue to hold down 4th place in the SJHL Standings, but do so with the 3rd most points, the same spot they’ve been in since Christmas. The Mustangs have been rolling through the SJHL season as a top team once again this season and sit 9 points back of the Nipawin Hawks for first place overall. If the regular season were to end today the Mustangs would meet the Humboldt Broncos in a best of 7 first round series. Unless something crazy were to happen over the final few weeks of the season, the Mustangs and Broncos are poised to meet!
