Mustangs close to sweeping Players of the Week

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Justin Ball, Melfort Mustangs

1998′ F Justin Ball (Saskatoon SK) has been the league’s most consistent offensive producer all season long and he gets recognized this week after scoring 5-goals and 2- assists in 4-games played.  All four contests were Melfort wins, with Ball getting two goals at Battlefords on Tuesday and then a goal and an assist one night later in Kindersley. He scored in a home ice win over La Ronge on Saturday and then picked up a goal and an assist in La Ronge on Sunday.  Ball has points in 22 straight games overall and has been held off the scoresheet only once this year. He’s second in the league with 22-goals and 17-assists in 24-games on the year. Runner-up: Carson Albrecht, Melfort.

SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK(RUNNER UP): Carson Albrecht, Melfort Mustangs

1998’ F Carson Albrecht had a stellar week helping the Mustangs go 4-0. He scored 3 times and added 4 assists for 7 points over that stretch. Albrecht has been great in the month of November with 12 points in just 8 games! He sits 5th in league scoring with 35 points and is 4th in goals with 18! Congrats Carson!

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Jake Hobson, Melfort Mustangs

1999′ D Jake Hobson (Christopher Lake SK) played a key role in Melfort’s perfect 4-win week as he scored twice against La Ronge on Saturday and also had a goal and an assist on Wednesday against Kindersley.  He also had a helper one night earlier in Battlefords and now has 6-goals and 11-assists in 23-games on the year.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Shawn Parkinson, Melfort Mustangs

1999′ G Shawn Parkinson (Victoria BC) is off to a hot start with his new team and he posted three wins this past week and a GAA of 0.70 and a SPCT of .974.  He stopped 34-of-35 against Battlefords on Tuesday, 21-of-22 against the Ice Wolves on Saturday and then was perfect in forty minutes on Sunday, stopping 20-shots over the final two periods of a win against La Ronge.  Parkinson is 4-and-0 on the year with an 0.82-GAA and .968-SPCT.
