Mustangs entertain the Bruins at the Northern Lights Palace

The Melfort Mustangs are set to host the Estevan Bruins tonight in the second meeting of the season, first at the Northern Lights Palace.

In the first meeting the Bruins got the better of the Mustangs knocking off the Stangs 3-2 on October 6th, the first loss of the season for Melfort. In the contest the Mustangs shut down the top Bruin line but it was the combination of Hayden Guilderson, Jake Fletcher and Dman Jake Heerspink who led they way. Each with 2 points. The Mustangs got goals from Loch Morrison and Jake Misskey.

The teams come into tonight’s game with very similar records. Melfort(12-4-2-1) and Estevan (12-5-1-0) have combined for 52 points early in the season. They currently sit 1st and 5th in the SJHL Standings respectively.

It’s a big game for the Melfort Mustangs who after starting the season 8-0-0-0, have slipped as of late. going 4-4-2-1 in their last 11 contests.  The Estevan Bruins come into tonight’s game having won back to back contests in a Shootout, 3-2 over Nipawin and 6-5 over Notre Dame. Previous to that they dropped 3 straight to Notre Dame, Yorkton and Nipawin.

Tonight’s game begins at 7:30pm from the Northern Lights Palace. It is the second of four meetings between the Bruins and Mustangs this season.
