Mustangs head to Flin Flon to meet Bombers

The Melfort Mustangs are back on the road tonight to continue a mini 2 game road trip this week. Following back to back home wins over Estevan and Nipawin the Mustangs fell to the Melville Millionaires 5-4 in OT on Saturday night. They head back out on the road this evening to meet the Bombers for the second time at the Whitney Forum.

Flin Flon has struggled as of late after coming out of the gate hot. They’ve won just 2 of their last 10 games. Having not played since Thursday in a loss to Estevan, they come into tonight’s game well rested and should make for another exciting matchup.

The Mustangs(14-4-3-1) met the Bombers(7-9-1-3) earlier this month splitting a home and home. For the Bombers they took advantage of a home crowd and played great defensively beating Melfort 2-1 on Nov 1st. The two clubs would meet the following night back in Melfort with the Mustangs earning a 4-3 win.

The Melfort Mustangs have been led recently by one of the hottest players in the SJHL, Kalem Zary. Zary has been red hot over the last 2 1/2 weeks having scored once and adding 10 assists for 11 points in his last 6 games. He’s moved right towards the top of the team scoring lead now tied with Dman Loch Morrison at 20 points.

Tonight’s game begins at 7:30pm and can be heard with Mat Barret on CK750. It also may be broadcasted on HockeyTV. Last time the Mustangs were in Flin Flon technical difficulties kept the game off HockeyTV.
