Mustangs head West to Battleford and Kindersley this weekend.

The Melfort Mustangs are back on the road for their final road games of 2017 this weekend. The club heads to the Battlefords tonight and finishes up in Kindersley tomorrow. Both games begin at 7:30pm and there will be no broadcasts on CK750.

The Melfort Mustangs have had a strong showing the last month despite a heart breaker in Yorkton on Tuesday. Melfort dropped their most recent game to the last placed Yorkton Terriers for the second time this season and are now 9-2-2-0 in their last 13 games. A pretty good record among the rest of the SJHL, except for the team that matters most. The rival Nipawin Hawks are 12-0-1-0 in their last 13 games. For the first time all season Melfort looks up at Nipawin in the standings, a trend they look to change before Christmas.

The Battlefords Northstars started out of the gate hot and continue to lead the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division(I know it’s a mouthful). They’re 7-2-1-0 in their last 10 and hold a 3 point lead on the Humboldt Broncos with 4 games in hand.  Last time out they dropped an overtime decision to the Nipawin Hawks 3-2.
