The Melfort Mustangs have made a trio of deals as the calendar flipped to June and preparations for the 2019-20 season begin.
Mustangs deal Misskey to Weyburn for Reimer list rights
The Melfort Mustangs have traded 2000-born Forward Jake Misskey to the Weyburn Red Wings, in exchange for the WHL list rights to 2000-born Defenceman Christian Reimer. The teams also exchange draft picks in the trade.
Misskey, from Melfort Saskatchewan, is a hometown player that after 101 regular season games over two seasons requested a trade from the Mustangs. He scored 4 goals while adding 10 assists. In 11 playoff games Misskey had 1 assist. We would like to thank Jake for his time in Melfort, and wish him all the best with the Weyburn Red Wings!
Mustangs move Rondeau to Whitecourt
The Melfort Mustangs have moved 1999-born Defenceman Alex Rondeau to the Whitecourt Wolverines of the Alberta Junior Hockey league. This move is to complete a futures deal made with Whitecourt from last summer.
In his first season in the SJHL, Rondeau played in all 58 regular season and 16 playoff games for Melfort. He scored 7 goals and added 17 assists for 24 points throughout the year. We would like to wish Alex all the best with the Whitecourt Wolverines.
Mustangs send Giesbrecht back to OCN
In a third June trade, the Melfort Mustangs have sent 1999-born goaltender Noah Giesbrecht back to the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Noah goes back to OCN to complete the futures portion of a Jan 10th trade between the two teams.
Giesbrecht, played in 10 regular season and 13 playoff games for the Mustangs since being acquired in January 2019. Along with Shawn Parkinson, Noah Giesbrecht helped backstop the Mustangs to the SJHL Finals and had a 2.98 Goals Against Average and a .912 Save Percentage in the SJHL Playoffs. By acquiring Noah at the deadline the Mustangs formed one of the top goaltending duos in the SJHL. We would like to thank Noah for his time in Melfort and wish him the best in OCN.
