Mustangs open home and home with Humboldt tonight

After a big win on Wednesday, the Melfort Mustangs are back in the win column, and will open a weekend home and home tonight, against the Humboldt Broncos.

The Melfort Mustangs knocked off the Melville Millionaires on Wednesday 8-1. Offensively it was a big night for the Mustangs as they were led by Loch Morrison who scored 3 goals and added 2 assists. Colin Schmidt would add two for the Stangs while Boedy Donald, Tyson Meyers and Eric McNeilly would also find the back of the net. Evan Plotnik stopped 29 of 30 shots for his 9th win of the season.

Tonight the Mustangs welcome the Humboldt Broncos to the Northern Lights Palace. The two teams met once earlier, September 22nd in Humboldt. The Mustangs would hang on for the 2-1 victory that night.

For Humboldt, they’re coming off a 6-5 win over the Flin Flon Bombers on Wednesday night. The Broncos are 1-2-1 in their past 4 games. Leading scorer Logan Schatz has gotten off to a great start this season. He’s scored 5 times and added 7 assists in 10 games. Brayden Camrud, Kaleb Dahlgren, Conner Lukan and Tristan Elder are among the top 5 scorers for the Broncos this season.

Loch Morrison is now the leading scorer for the Melfort Mustangs. Thanks to his big night on Wednesday he now leads the team with 13 points in just 11 games. Other Mustangs among the top of the team scoring lead are Kayle Tosh, Justin Ball and Adam Hergott. In goal Evan Plotnik has now played all 11 games this season for the Mustangs. He sits with an incredible 9-1-1 record, a .931 save percentage and a 1.88 goals against average.
