Mustang Director of Player Personal, Rick Oakes, said “Hvidston is a very skilled forward who competes hard. He’s got the potential to be a Junior A Player and we’re happy to get him in the draft.”

With the 10th pick, in the 2nd Round, the Mustangs took Forward Tyrus Flory from the Saskatoon Maniacs. In 31 games this season, Flory put up 30 Goals and 42 Assists for 72 Points. “Flory is a very aggressive player with a phenomenal skill set. He has a nose for the net and competes hard in the tough areas.”

With our 3rd round pick, 27th overall, we’re proud to select Defenceman Noah Newman, from Regina! In 29 games Newman had 5 Goals and 17 Assists for 22 Points. “Newman is a steady 2 way D who competes hard every shift. He also has the leadership skills to lead at the next level.”

With the 42nd Overall Pick, in the 4th Round, Melfort selected Defenceman Tyson Herron from the Regina Aces! In 31 Games, Herron scored 5 Goals and added 18 Assists for 23 Points. “We like Herron a lot. He’s a big tall kid who skates well. He also has a nice offensive side to his game.”

With the 65th overall pick, in the 6th round, we selected Forward Rhett Dekowny from the Swift Current Broncos Bantam AA. Finally, we auto-protected Zackery Somers from Melfort. He had a strong season with the Northeast Wolfpack scoring 24 Goals and 19 Assists for 43 Points. “We are happy to be able to protect Zack. He’s a player that would have went high in the draft and with a local connection is a great piece to the team. He’s a smaller guy but has a great offensive skill set with a big upside.”

The Mustangs are proud to welcome these eight 2004-born hockey players to the team. We look forward to seeing them in Mustang colours in the years to come!
