Mustangs trade Warkentine to Lloydminster, acquire Liwiski, Tibbatts and Futures

The Melfort Mustangs have acquired two players from the Lloydminster Bobcats. Coming to Melfort are 99’ Forward Jacob Tibbatts, 99’ Defenceman Andrew Liwiski, along with future considerations. Going to the Lloydminster Bobcats is 98’ forward Drew Warkentine.

The 3 player trade was made this morning and see’s the Mustangs pick up 2 experienced players. Liwiski, from Dauphin, Manitoba, appeared in 50 regular season games for the Bobcats scoring 2 goals and 6 points from the back end. The former Parkland Ranger of the Manitoba AAA Hockey league, was once a point per game player with the Rangers. Scoring 43 points in 42 regular season and playoff games combined during the 2016-17 season.

Tibbatts, from Foxwarren, Manitoba, split last season with the Lloydminster Bobcats and the Battleford North Stars. In 38 combined games he scored 2 goals and 6 points. He also appeared in 3 playoff games for the Bobcats. Tibbatts played the 2016-17 season with the Yellowhead Chiefs of the Manitoba AAA Hockey League and scored 19 goals for 32 points in 44 games.  The Mustangs also received Future Considerations in the trade.

Moving on from Melfort is 1998’ forward Drew Warkentine. In 36 games with the Mustangs last season Warkentine scored 15 goals and racked up 31 points. He also had 2 points in 4 playoff games. The former Prince Albert Raider has also spent time in the Western Hockey League. In 87 WHL games with the Raiders he scored 5 times and added 6 assists.
