Mustangs welcome Ice Wolves for Teddy Bear Toss Night!
The Melfort Mustangs are back on home ice in what should make a great evening at the Northern Lights Palace! The La Ronge Ice Wolves are in town for the 4th meeting of the season between the two teams. The Mustangs are 1-1-1 in 3 previous meetings with the Wolves.
Tonight is Teddy Bear Toss at the Northern Lights Palace! Thanks to the Salvation Army and Big Brothers Big Sisters for bringing it back again this year! All Teddy Bears thrown onto the ice when the Mustangs score their first goal of the game will be donated to the Salvation Army for their Christmas Hampers! We’d also like to welcome Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Melfort for supplying the volunteers to clean the ice once the teddies fly!
Along with Teddy Bear Toss the Prairie North Coop here in Melfort is guaranteeing a $2,000 50:50 jackpot tonight! Someone will leave with that pot this evening! Thanks to Whitney and the staff at Prairie North Coop for sponsoring the 50:50!
To add to the drama and excitement of Teddy Bear Toss, former Mustang Jake Hobson makes his return to Melfort tonight. Hobson was traded to Kindersley on Monday, along with Davin Griffin and Sam Witt, in exchange for Kyle Bosch and Austin Nault. Hobson was then flipped to La Ronge on Wednesday. He plays his first game as a member of La Ronge tonight, back at the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort.
On the flip side of the trade the Mustangs added 2 proven veteran 1999-born forwards in Kyle Bosch and Austin Nault. Bosch makes his first appearance in a Mustang jersey tonight. Nault is sidelined with a wrist injury that will see him out of the lineup until the New Year.
Tonight’s game gets underway at 7:30pm from the Palace in Melfort. The game has big standings implications as well with La Ronge coming in as one of the hottest teams in the SJHL. The Wolves have made a big push the last few weeks and have started to climb in the standings. Currently in 6th place overall, they trail the 3rd placed Mustangs by only 4 points.
