Catz N’ Jammers 3 Stars of the Month

The Month of September was a good one for the Melfort Mustangs on the ice. It started off rather slow but 4 straight wins left the Mustangs with a 6-2-0-0 record to start the season! Thanks to Catz N’ Jammers in Melfort we will be bringing to you the Mustang 3 Stars of the Month all season long!

This Month we highlight Goaltender Shawn Parkinson, Forward Kenzie Arnold and Defenceman Nolan Kadachuk in no particular order.

Nolan Kadachuk

Nolan Kadachuk had arguably his best month in a Mustang jersey over 3 seasons during the month of September. In 8 September games, Nolan scored 1 Goal and added 7 Assists for 8 Points. Putting up the numbers offensively, Kadachuk finished the month just 1 point behind James Philpott of Melville for the league lead by a defenseman, he tied fellow teammate Jake Hobson, and Matthew Fletcher of Battleford with 8. Kadachuk is in his 3rd season with the Mustangs and is well on his way of passing his career high set last season with 21 Points.

Shawn Parkinson

Between the pipes Shawn Parkinson had a great month of September. Appearing in 6 games for the Mustangs Parkinson went 4-2 including a 4 game win streak which saw him post a .943 Save Percentage and a Goals Against Average of 2.00. Parkinson looks to be in mid season form as we turn the calendar to October and the Mustangs have begun to supplant themselves as a top team in the SJHL. Goaltenders Shawn Parkinson as well as Tanner Martin are big parts of that!

Kenzie Arnold

Kenzie Arnold came out of the gate on fire this season. With three, yes three, 3-point games Kenzie put himself right near the top of the SJHL scoring race. He put up 3 point nights against La Ronge, Notre Dame(hat trick) and Yorkton, as well as a 2-point game against Melville. Arnold leads all Mustangs with 6 Goals and 11 Points already, he is on his way to passing his career high of 32 he set last season in the Blue and Green.
