Mustangs drop 4th straight

The Melfort Mustangs played another solid 57 minutes of hockey but it was a 3 minute lapse in the third period that sent the Flin Flon Bombers home with two points.

Cole Hyrsky opened the scoring for the Mustangs in the first period that was dominated by the home squad.

With less than five minutes left in the first frame the Bombers got a lucky one as the initial shot went off the post and lay in the crease behind Jesse Wilkins until Riley Storzuk poked it in for his 10th of the year.

The second period was the Jesse WIlkins show as he kicked aside 15 shots, several in spectacular fashion to send it to the third period tied at one.

Dylan Balaski would net the eventual game winner on a strange goal that somehow found its way through WIlkins five hole.

Cam Blair added an insurance marker less than a minute later to seal the deal and send the Mustangs to a 6-10-0-1 record and into a tie with La Ronge for last place in the Bauer Conference.

The Mustangs open a home and home with Nipawin Friday night at The Cage.
