Terriers Nip Melfort

By Branden Crowe, 12/14/12, 11:15PM CST

Open road trip with a loss

Yorkton Terriers 5   Melfort Mustangs 3

In a back and forth game that saw the Mustangs claw back several times, the boys in blue and green could not get over the hump and take a lead Friday night in Yorkton.

The Mustangs fell behind 2-0 early in the first but a late Jarret Zentner powerplay marker injected some life into the Mustangs.

The 2nd period was quite docile compared to the third as just one goal found the back of the net. Jeremy Johnson's 13th of the year gave the Dogs a 3-1 lead heading to the final frame.

Adam Fauchoux and Curtis Oliver would exchange goals early to make it 4-2 while an Anthony Pickering marker two minutes later cut the Terriers lead to one.

Patrick Martens would put the final nail in the coffin with his 2nd of the evening on the powerplay.

As Vic Rauter would say... Make the final!!! 5-3.

The Mustangs will head down the highway to Melville to wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule.

You can catch the game on CK750 at 7:15.
