Humboldt Broncos 4 Melfort Mustangs 2
(Best-of-Seven series tied 1-1)
An almost perfect powerplay performance lead to a 4-2 Humboldt Broncos victory in game two of the SJHL's North Semi-Final Saturday night.
Cody Pongracz and Dylan Fluter converted on a pair of advantages in the first period to put the Broncos in front for good.
Brandon Formosa would cut the lead to one on the lone goal of the second period but it was the Joey Davies show after that.
The Ontario native blocked a Brandon Parrone shot and scored the game winning goal on a breakaway and then sealed the deal with the empty netter just moments after Godric Tham made things interesting.
While the Broncos powerplay was hot the Mustangs struggled going 0/3 on the night while allowing a number of great offensive short handed chances.
Jesse Wilkins stood on his head once again making 40 saves in the loss. For Wilkins, thats 90 saves on 95 shots in the first two games of the series.
Matt Hyrinkiw had a much better effort making 23 stops for the win.
The Broncos and Mustangs will now return to the Elgar Petersen Arena on Tuesday for Game Three of the series.
The 105 CJVR pre-game show begins at 7:15.
