Melfort has returned to the win column in a big way.
Head Coach Gavin Holcomb put his team to the test and they rose to the occasion, as the Mustangs scored five 3rd period goals on route to a 7-4 win over Flin Flon at the Palace.
Melfort had contributions from many new faces as Justin Boyer scored his first two SJHL goals, and former WHLers Riley Boomgaarden and Dexter Bricker also scored their first goals for Melfort.
Anthony Pickering had a goal and two assists, Cole Hyrsky scored one and added a dime, and Brandon Sloan chimed in with three assists of his own.
Jack Romanuik made 17 saves for the win.
The Mustangs are now 9-9-0-4 and have moved up to third place in the Sherwood division.
The win was especially promising, considering Melfort’s struggles to score goals this season.
**The Mustangs head to Notre Dame and Yorkton on Friday and Saturday. Catch both games on CK750 with Branden Crowe.
