Mustangs Go 0-2 Down South

Set for Three Game Home Stand

The Melfort Mustangs lost their second consecutive road game with a 3-0 loss in Yorkton to the SJHL leading Terriers on Saturday, November 29. They lost their game in Wilcox on Friday 4-1 to the Notre Dame Hounds. 

On Saturday night the game was scoreless after the first and second periods.

The Terriers’ Kale Thomson made 23 saves to record the shutout.
Devon McMullen scored for the Terriers mid way throiugh the third period, the Joshua Ellis scored to empty net goals to seal the win for the Terriers.

Austin Rediron made 41 saves for the Mustangs.

On Friday night the Mustangs trailed 2-0 after the first period and 4-0 after the second period.

Captain David Heath scored his second goal in two games as the Mustangs’ lone goal of the evening.

Logan Saworksi, Ryan Donovan, Ian Williams and Jared Martin scored for Notre Dame.

The Mustangs’ Jack Romanuik made 29 saves; Alexi Thibaudeau made 27 saves for Notre Dame.

The losses left the Mustangs in fourth place in the Sherwood Division as of December 1 with a record of 9-11-0-4.

The Mustangs also made two roster moves before the road trip sending forward Lane Harbor to the Melvillie Millionaires for the rights to forward Dakota Boutin.

As well the team added local forward Rylan Freed, the leading scorer for the Tisdale Trojans, to the roster.

Freed has since been returned to the Trojans.
