Blevins Returns To Mustangs Bench

Familiar Face Back At The Helm

 

December 6, 2013 – The Melfort Mustangs are pleased to announce the following hockey operations changes.

Assistant Coach Dwight Kulchysky has been named Interm General Manager while retaining his role as Assistant Coach. Kulchysky has been with the club since 2011 and has earned the respect of both his players and peers.

Prior to joining the Mustangs “Spears” spent nine seasons with the Nipawin Hawks as an Assistant Coach. In that span, the team only missed the playoffs once.

Kulchysky is also the SJHL scout for the Prince Albert Raiders.

The club is also proud to announce that alumni member and former Assistant Coach Trevor Blevins has been named the Interim Head Coach.

Blevins played his entire junior career in Melfort and played 177 games, racking up 114 points while winning an SJHL Championship in 1996.

Blevins returned to the bench in 2004 as an Assistant to Darrell Mann. Blevins stayed in this position until 2010 when he left to take the role as GM & Head Coach of the Tisdale ‘AAA’ Trojans.

The Mustangs have four players that played for Blevins in Tisdale during that time, Jay Aasen, Sheldon Argent, Dawven Berggren and Austin Rediron.

The Mustangs are happy to welcome Trevor back to the organization.
