Blevins Earns First Win Behind the Bench

Sporting the TM throwback jerseys, the Melfort Mustangs won their first game for the month of December in strong fashion, defeating the Estevan Bruins 4-2.

The ‘Stangs outshot Estevan, 28-27 in the matchup.

It was the first game and victory for Trevor Blevins, who took over as Interim Head Coach yesterday.

Gavin Holcomb was relieved of his coaching duties Thursday evening.

The Mustangs are now at 10-12-0-4 for the season, still last place in the tight Sherwood division.

The win kicks off an event filled weekend featuring the throwback jerseys, a silent auction, parent-billet appreciation, and recognition of former Alumni.

The Melfort TMs were the original Junior B team to compete in the city back in the 1970s and 1980s.

Star Tad Kozun and the division rival Nipawin Hawks are paying a visit to the Northern Lights Palace to face the Mustangs tonight.

The Hawks lead the Sherwood Division with 28 points and 13-11-0-2 record.
