Mustangs Drop 2nd In a Row

Head Into Week Long Break

The Melfort Mustangs lost the second half of their weekend home-and-home 3-1 to the Yorkton Terriers on Saturday, January 4 at the Northern Lights Palace.

Yorkton led 1-0 after the first period and 2-0 after the second period.
Cole Hyrsky snapped Yorkton goalie Riley Medves’ shutout with 1:35 left in the game as the Mustangs had the extra attacker.

Brett Boehm, Derek Falloon and Tayler Thompson scored for the Terriers.
The Mustangs’ Jack Romanuik made 18 saves; Medves made 25 saves for the Terriers.

The loss kept the Mustangs in second place in the close Sherwood Division with 34 points and a record of  14-17-1-5 , two points behind the first place Nipawin Hawks. The third place Flin Flon Bombers have 32 points and the fourth place La Ronge Ice Wolves have 31 points (as of January 5).

The Mustangs have a week off until their next game when they return to the Northern Lights Palace on January 11 to face the Notre Dame Hounds.
