When Landon Robin scored a powerplay goal 23 seconds into the second period, it gave the Mustangs a commanding 5-0 lead over the Nipawin Hawks in Game 3 of their SJHL Semi-Final.
However in a space 11 minutes, the Hawks would score five unanswered of their own to tie things up.
Just over a minute after that, with 55 seconds left in the second period, Tristan Frei gave the Mustangs a 6-5 lead, which Nipaiwn's Chase Thudium answered with 2:05 left in the third period, forcing overtime.
Frei scored yet again, his 4th of the night and sixth point, just 1:03 into overtime to give the Mustangs the 7-6 (OT) win, and a 2-1 series lead. Travis Mayan set up the winner with his fifth assist of the game. Rounding out that trio was Justin Boyer, with three assists.
The series shifts back to Nipawin with Game 4 on Thursday.
