After a weekend split at home the Melfort Mustangs will continue the home stand with their first meeting of the season against the Flin Flon Bombers. The high powered Bomber offence makes it's first trip to Melfort for 1 of 6 meetings on the year.
Mustangs: The Melfort Mustangs have continued to be one of the more consistent teams in the SJHL. With a 10-5-1-0 record the Mustangs seems to win a couple, before losing one. Never really jumping into a streak one way or the other. Coming off a 9-4 defeat at the hands of the Estevan Bruins(8-10-0-0), the focus will be keeping the puck out of their own net as the Bombers score at the fastest pace of any team in the SJHL.
Bombers: Having scored 83 goals in just 18 games, the Flin Flon Bombers have 3 of the top 5 leading scorers in the SJHL, including Brandson Hein who has a ridiculous 21 goals and 13 assists, good enough for 34 points on the year. 5 points ahead of teammate Nate Hooper. The Bombers seem to score at will and for a Mustang team that allowed 9 goals on Saturday the focus tonight, will be the home end of the rink.

The Division: The battle atop the Sher-Wood division continues to be a tight one, as it will be all season. The Nipawin Hawks(26 points in 18GP's) currently lead the division but the Flin Flon Bombers(24 points in 18GP's) sit closely behind them. The Melfort Mustangs(21 points in 16GP's) have 2 games in hand on both the Bombers and Hawks as they sit waiting in the weeds for a shot a chance to climb back to the top. With games against Flin Flon and Nipawin in 3 of their next 4, they have a chance to get within striking distance before the end of next week.
Tonight's game begins at 7:30pm and there will be no Melfort radio coverage. The game can be seen on HockeyTV with a subscription!
