The Melfort Mustangs will head into the weekend with 2 new additions to the hockey club. Melfort has made two separate trades this week adding to the depth of the team.

Earlier this week the Mustangs acquired 1999' Goalie Shawn Parkinson from the Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for a Player Development Fee. In 9 games this season, Parkinson has a 3.85 GAA and an .875 Save Percentage. He's played 39 games at the Junior A level between Drayton Valley and the Victoria Grizzlies of the British Columbia Hockey League. "He's a big goalie that moves very well" Mustang Head Coach, Trevor Belvins said "For his age, he has great Junior A experience and we're happy to get him in Melfort".

On Thursday, the Melfort Mustangs acquired 1998' D-man Marshall Skapski from the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BCHL for a Player Development Fee. Skapski has played 18 games this season for Cowichan Valley and has 1 goal and 2 assists. He's played 178 career BCHL games between Cowichan Valley, Merritt Centennials and the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. "Marshall is a player we've been tracking for a number of months, we are very excited that he's coming to our program". Blevins said "He's going to be a difference maker in our lineup and can play in all situations. He brings valuable experience and leadership to our lineup".

The Melfort Mustangs are back on the ice Wednesday, when they host the Kindersley Klippers. Game time is 7:30pm from the Palace.
