Rondeau Commits to Alaska Fairbanks!

The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce graduating Defenceman Alex Rondeau has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

Rondeau, the Drummondville, Quebec native, spent the last two seasons in Melfort and was named the Sher-Wood Division Defenceman of the year for 2019-20. He played 128 total games as a Mustang, compiling 20 goals, 47 assists for 67 points.

“Alex has been a terrific member of our team and community the past two years. He committed himself on and off the ice and the dedication made him a big piece of our team.” Mustang Head Coach and GM Trevor Blevins said. “We would like to thank Alex for his time as a Mustang and wish him all the best with Alaska Fairbanks.”

Located in Fairbanks, Alaska, the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks are a Division 1 NCAA Hockey Program. They compete in the WCHA Men’s Hockey Conference.

“Playing in Melfort for the Mustangs was a great opportunity for me. I cannot express the gratitude I have playing for such a great team and organization, under the best coaches and teammates.” Alex Rondeau said. “Playing Division 1 Hockey has always been a dream of mine. I cannot wait to get to Alaska and get started.”

Alex will join the Nanooks this fall for his first season of NCAA hockey.
