Sobkowicz is Heading to Melville

PART OF A FUTURES DEAL SEES MELFORT FAN FAVOURITE HEADING DOWN TO MELVILLE

The Melfort Mustangs must bid a fond farewell to Teal Sobkowicz. Teal will be heading to the Melville Millionaires as partial completion of the future considerations trade that saw Kirk Bear and Carter Hansen join the Mustangs for the Canalta Cup run. The Mustangs acquired Sobkowicz as a future consideration when Carter Berg was traded before the January 10, 2012 trade deadline.

Before joining the SHJL Teal played for the Prince Albert Mintos in the SMAAAHL, where, in 2013-2014 he contributed 23 goals and 24 assists as the Mintos won the Telus Cup. The Telus Cup is the national prize that all Midget AAA players seek, and Sobkowicz played in the longest Telus Cup final game in history. The 2013-2014 Telus Cup was held in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan and was a marathon event that spanned 108 minutes and 36 seconds. His career in Prince Albert was only the beginning of Teal’s accolades though; he would ultimately win three championships in as many years.

The Outlook Saskatchewan native played two full seasons with the Mustangs, cumulating in back to back Canalta Cup victories. Sobkowicz registered 108 total games on the ice, netting 21 goals and adding 23 helpers during his tenure as a Mustang. Teal was a very entertaining player to watch; he was a fast skater, not afraid of contact, and a very dedicated hockey player. This quickly cemented himself as a fan favourite, and he will be dearly missed in the upcoming season. The Mustangs would like to thank Teal for all his contributions both on and off the ice, and wish him the best of luck moving forward.
